ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to analyze the factors determining pharmaceuticals' operating performance so as to provide effective countermeasures and suggestions for listed pharmaceutical manufacturing companies to improve their business performance and achieve sustainable development.
The research sample of this paper is the unbalanced panel data of 185 listed pharmaceutical manufacturing enterprises from 2010 to 2020 under the industry classification of China Securities Regulatory Commission (2012 edition), with a sample size of 891. Use Stata15.0 for empirical analysis.
Research findings were as follows, firstly, there is an "inverted U-shaped" effect of R&D investment on company operating performance. Secondly, there is a lagged effect of R&D investment and the operating performance of the previous period has a positive effect on the operating performance of the current period. Thirdly, there is a positive effect of salary gap on company's operating performance, and the effect of salary gap on operating performance is greater in state-owned enterprises.
